40 years have passed since tourism educational institution established in Korea. Tourism education has evolved so much quantitatively as well as qualitatively. However many numbers of researchers point out that it is needed to establish the body of knowledge and standardization of curriculum of tourism. By promoting the importance of tourism education, it is necessary to examine the emergence and development process of tourism educational institution. This study suggests the necessities of the variety of tourism education, development program of industry-university cooperation and the introduction of tourism education accreditation.
