이 논문은 외국어로서의 한국어 교육의 현실 문제를 살펴보고, 한국어의 세계화 전략의 대안을 제시하기 위한 것이다. 한국어 교육의 현실에서 대두되는 한국어 교원 양성 과정, 한국어 교육 연수, 교재, 교수 학습, 문화 교육 등의 실상을 점검하고, 그 나아갈 방향을 논의하였다. 한국어의 세계화 전략은 한국어 교육의 지속적인 활성화 방안을 통하여 실현할 수 있다. 그러기 위하여 정책적으로 남북 언어의 이질화에 적극 대처할 통일 언어 모색과 더불어 한국어 교육의 세계화로 통합 한국어 교재 개발과 그것을 바탕으로 지역 실정에 따라 다양하게 교재를 선정하고 활용할 ‘교사연구 행위자’로서 전문적 지식을 갖춘 한국어 교원을 양성해야 한다. 그리고 한국어 교원의 역할과 교수 학습법의 전략에 대하여 고찰하였다. 나아가 정책 당국의 한국어의 세계화에 대한 확고한 의지, 한국어 국외 보급 사업의 체계와 내실화, 체계적인 한국학 육성과 한류의 지속과 확산, 그리고 그 재생산을 위한 지원 정책의 필요성과 일관성 등을 제안해 보았다.
Education on Korean as a Foreign Language (KFL) : Its Present State and the Globalization StrategyHan, Young-mokWe addressed the problems that KFL education has faced so far and the issues of globalization of the Korean language and culture. KFL education includes education of the language and culture as well. We examined in detail the current problems of Korean language learning and teaching, teaching materials, teacher training, and the current situations. In addition, discussed are the issues of the unification of the Korean language used in South and North Korea, that is the foundation of the globalization of the Korean language, KFL teacher training, the development of the variety of teaching materials based on the unified materials model, lasting vitality of the Korean Wave, and ultimately the expansion of support for Korean Studies. We devoted our special attention to the KFL teachers' qualifications and teaching methods. Changeover of the Korean language policy into the open one is in order so as to prepare for the globalization of the Korean language. It will, in turn, contribute to the development of the Korean language in the world through its independence and modernization. Vitality of the Korean language and culture will be sustained only if the future of the Korean language sinks roots into fertile soil of our awakening and reflection on the globalization of the Korean language and culture.
