This thesis is a study on the problem-solving centered reading comprehension strategy (of expository text )in native language arts in a high school. Our society is full of problem. We need to see reading as problem-solving process. The process of this strategy consists in four stages, forecasting stage, analytical stage, synthetical stage, and diffusive stage. The forecasting stage is a process of reading comprehension in intuitional recognition. The activity of this stage is activating of pre-knowledge, inducing motive, and outlining a text. The analytical stage is a process of grasping theme and expression in the paragraph. The activity of this stage is searching meaning of difficult word and clause, grasping theme of paragraph, mutual relation of paragraphs and expressional method in the paragraph. The synthetical stage is a process of synthetically grasping text. The activity of this stage is diagrammatizing of text structure, summarizing of total text, and seizing author's viewpoint, intention and attitude. The diffusive stage is a process of expansively reading text contrast to prior three stages. The activity of this stage is critic reading on the text, relational writing and presenting advanced and supplementary task. This strategy is realistic and spot-centered, because this strategy is based on solving of best serious problem in high school expository text instruction.
