‘-든지’, ‘-은지’, ‘-을지’의 형태론적 구성과 의미

A Study on morphological constituent and meaning of “-tinji”, “-inji”, “-ilji” restructured compound conjunctive endings

본고는 형태론에 기초한 국어 통사론 논의가 이루어질 때 보다 명시적인 설명이 이루어질 수 있다는 전제에서 출발하였다. 그 중에서도 마지막 구성 요소로 ‘-지’를 갖고 있는 접속어미인 ‘-든지, ’-은지, ‘-을지’의 형태론적 구성과 의미를 살펴보았다. 특히, 본고는 ‘-든지’, ‘-은지’, ‘-을지’의 마지막 구성요소로 공통적인 ‘-지’의 범주가 동일하지 않은 이유를 첫째, ‘-든지’의 ‘-지’는 생략이 가능한데 ‘-은지’, ‘-을지’의 ‘-지’는 생략이 불가능하며, 둘째, ‘-은지’, ‘-을지’와 달리 ‘-든지’는 동격 구성을 이루지 못한다는 것에 근거하여 설명하였다. 아울러 이를 통해 ‘-지’의 분석 가능성을 검토하고, 이들 접속어미의 형태론적 구성과 의미 특성도 살펴보았다. 본고를 통해 ‘-든지’가 조건의 의미를 나타낼 수 있는 것은 선택에서 제외된 대립하는 내용을 확실히 전제하고 선택된 내용이 일반적인 선택의 의미를 나타내는 보조사 ‘-은’에 의한 것이며 ‘-든지’가 접속어미로 기능할 수 있는 것은 마지막 구성요소 ‘-지’가 선행 서술을 화자가 긍정하여 끝맺고 후행 서술을 이어주는 의미를 가지고 있기 때문임을 확인하였으며, ‘-은지’, ‘-을지’에서 마지막 구성 요소 ‘지’는 역사적으로 의존명사 ‘’와 조사 ‘-이’의 통합형으로서 ‘-은지’, ‘-을지’는 마지막 구성요소로 조사 ‘-이’가 통합된 접속어미임을 확인하였다.

This article was written with purposes to classify the restructured compound conjunctive endings by its last constituent, to research the characteristics of its morphology and syntax based on its constituent, and to explain the diverse usage of the conjunctive endings based on each constituents basic meaning. I had a belief that the restructured compound conjunctive endings had relationship with the Korean endings system with regard to the reanalysis and the overall Korean grammar and this article proved my belief was right. Especially, I focused on the restructured compound conjunctive endings which ended with ‘-ji’(-지) and explained the systagmatic characteristics, limitation of the constituent, syntactical characteristics and meaning based on the constituent morpheme and meaning. For example, I could verify the existing reason for ‘-ji'(지) in ‘-tɨnji’(-든지), ‘-ɨnji’(-은지) and ‘-ɨlji’(-을지). And I could explain clearly the characteristics of the individual conjunctive endings through reanalyzing the components. Through this article, I could verify the categorical existence for its last constituent ‘-ji’(-지) in ‘-tɨnji’(-든지), ‘-ɨnji’(-은지) and ‘-ɨlji’(-을지). This articles main purpose was to clarify the relationship of the Korean conjunctive endings with the Korean endings, also with the overall the Korean grammar. Also, I believe this articles prove that my belief that the Korean syntax discussion can be explained more clearly than to depend on morphology and hope my findings in this article be developed more in the future.
