전래동화 스토리텔링을 활용한 한국어교육 방안

Developing materials using Korean folktale storytelling for multi-cultural children

국내의 다문화 가정 및 재외 동포 아동을 대상으로 하는 한국어 교육은 학교 정규 수업과는 별도로 실시되고 있는데 기존의 외국어로서의 한국어 교육이 대부분 성인 대상이어서 아동 대상의 한국어 교육은 교재 및 교수법의 부재, 교사의 부족 등 어려움을 겪고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 문제점을 보완하기 위한 방법으로 한국 전래 동화에 그림 동화책 언어교육기법을 접목한 아동용 한국어 교재 개발을 제안한다. 본 논문에서의 아동은 5세에서 10세 전후의 아동을 말하며 한국어를 제2언어로서 접하며 문어에의 노출은 미미하나 구어에는 이미 노출되어 간단한 말들은 듣고 이해하며 이에 두·세 마디의 답을 할 수 있는 아동들이다. 본 교재는 총 16편의 동화를 8편씩 두 권에 걸쳐 소개하며 한 편의 동화를 한 주제로 잡고 한 주제 하에 어휘와 문형 그리고 문화가 적절하게 어우러져 다양한 과제의 모습으로 소개되는 모형을 기본으로 한다. 1권의 동화들에는 단문을 주로 사용하여 문형의 단순화를 시도하였고, 2권의 동화들에는 연결어미로 연결된 종속절의 도입으로 복문을 사용하나 빈출도가 높은 연결어미 사용을 위주로 하였다. 각 단원마다 기본 문형과 12개의 중심 어휘가 제시되며 각 단원은 2번의 수업으로 완성되게 구성했다. 1차시 수업은 듣기와 말하기 위주의 활동으로 짜여 있으며 그 마무리는 이야기 지도를 통해 내용 다시 말하기로 맺는다. 2차시 수업은 개방형 질문을 통해 전에 배운 문형과 어휘의 반복 연습을 유도하고 읽기와 쓰기 중심의 활동을 실시하며 그 마무리는 동화 내용을 다시 재구성하여 쓰도록 하는 책 만들기로 맺는다.

This study aims to develop materials using storytelling of Korean folktales for multi-cultural children. The current reality of teaching Korean as a second language to children is under difficulty because of lack of teachers, textbooks and teaching methodologies. To overcome these difficulties, this research suggests material development using Korean folktale storytelling with specific language teaching techniques. Children in this study are in the range of 5 to 10, who can understand a moderate amount of Korean, but only answer in short sentences. The material suggested in this study consists of 2 books with 16 Korean famous folktales. Each folktale carries its own theme and under this theme, culture, vocabulary words, structure are introduced systematically and harmoniously in tasks. A key sentence and 12 key words are introduced in each folktale that is planned to be completed by two class hours. The first class of each folktale consists of listening and speaking activities finished with story map activity; the second class is composed with reading and writing activities finished with book making activity. Every activity in the lesson is schemed not only to improve Korean skills of multi-cultural children, but also to reinforce their creativity and self-confidence.
