An Essay on Chae, mansik 『Yeoinjeonki』

채만식 문학 연구에 있어서 그의 유일한 친일소설인 『여인전기』가 주목 받지 못한 것이 사실이다. 그 원인은 채만식 작품에서 차지하는 비중의 미약함과 그 작품에 대한 부정적 평가에 기인한 것으로 판단된다. 본 논문에서 필자는 지금까지 소홀하게 다루어진 『여인전기』에 대한 분석을 1차 목표로 한다. 아울러 이 작품과 내용상 밀접하게 연관되어 있는 『어머니』와 『여자의 일생』에 대한 분석도 병행한다. 『어머니』는 문학이 사회적․시대적 요구에 대응해야 한다는 이른바 신체제문학론과 상반된 내용으로 일관되었고 연재 도중 갑자기 중단된다. 만 1년의 공백기를 거치고 집필된 『여인전기』는 『어머니』를 전반부로 하고 친일적인 내용을 후반부로 하는 형태로 되어 있다. 해방 후에 집필된 『여자의 일생』은 『여인전기』와 거의 동일한 형태로 된 작품인데 후반부의 내용이 『여인전기』와는 상반된다. 이는 『여자의 일생』이 『여인전기』에 대한 문학적 속죄 내지 반성의 의미를 띠고 있는 것으로 판단된다.

Chae, Mansik unique projapanese novel 『Yeoinjeonki』 has unnoticed until now. I think the causes are two. One is weak of relative importance and the other is negative assertion. I have two objects on this study. One is analyze on 『Yeoinjeonki』 and the other is study on 『Eomeoni』 and 『Yeojauiilsaeng』. 『Eomeoni』(1943.3~10)which was created in those days was a literay work that in contraction to author's outlook and go against the trend. As a result, 『Eomeoni』 was fall over during creation with no specific reason. Whereafter, Two novels the foundation of 『Eomeoni』 were created. 『Yeoinjeonki』(1944.10.5~1945.5.17) 『Yeojauiilsaeng』(1947.3) is just it. Two novels which were created due around liberation have content that following 『Eomeoni』. 『Yeoinjeonki』 show an excessive pro-Japanese with an Russo-Japanese War. 『Yeojauiilsaeng』 reveal the Nationalism of anti-feudalism and anti-foreign power with an revolution and the campaign of independence institute setting. It carry the expiate consciousness about an excessive pro-Japanese of 『Yeoinjeonki』. We can recognize that There are a mirror called 'Liberation' between Two asymmetric novels. And it shows a weak inner space of intellectual according to politic fluctuations.
