재일제주인 제주방언화자의 억양에 대한 연구

An Experimental Phonetic Study on Jeju Dialect Intonation of Jeju people in Japan: case study on speakers older than 70s in Osaka

본고는 실험음성학적 방법(PCquirerX)을 이용하여 일본 오사카에 거주하고 있는 제주방언화자들의 억양의 양상을 분석하여 이 화자들에 나타난 대표적 억양 패턴을 제시하고 기능을 해석하려는 목적으로 수행된 연구이다. 제주방언의 고유한 형태가 소실되고 있는 상황에서 제주방언의 보수형을 잘 유지하고 있다고 간주되는 재일동포 제주출신 고령의 방언화자들을 제보자로 하였다. 재일제주인이 집단적으로 밀집하여 있는 대표적 지역인 오사카 지역으로 이주한지 50년 이상 된 고령화자의 구어 담화를 인터뷰형식으로 녹음하여 음성자료로 이용하였다. 재일제주인 방언화자가 발화한 음성언어의 억양에 대한 연구를 찾아보기 어려운 현실에서 제주방언의 보수형을 구사하는 그들의 음성언어를 처음으로 다루었다는 점에 의미가 있다. 또한 낭독체 담화가 아닌 구어담화를 연구대상으로 하여 제주방언의 억양이 실제 언어생활에서 실현되고 있는 양상을 드러내고자 하였다. 한 제보자가 반복하여 사용하는 억양패턴들과 두 명 이상의 제보자가 공통적으로 사용하는 억양패턴들을 통해 제주방언의 고유한 억양패턴으로 정리할 수 있는 가능성을 모색하였다. 또한 이 억양패턴들이 문장에서 배열되는 양상들을 분석하고 기술함으로써 제주방언의 구어담화에서 억양이 담당하는 역할을 조명하는 한편 화자가 구어 담화에 필요한 전략적 도구로 억양을 사용하는 방식을 해석하고자 하였다.

In this study, differents caracteristics of intonation in Jeju Dialect are analyzed and described by experimental phonetic method(PCquirerX). Jeju Dialect informants (5 female speakers) in this study are older than 70s who emigrated to Japan more than 50 years ago. Their discourse in conversational situation are used as corpus. Intonation patterns which are frequently realized in each informant (intra-informant shape) and which have common shape among differents informants (inter-informant shape) are presented as typical Jeju Dialect Intonation patterns : /(rising pattern), /ˆ(empnasis rising pattern1), ∨ˆ(emphasis rising pattern2), ＼(falling pattern),ˆ＼(emphasis falling pattern1), ￢(emphasis falling pattern2), ∧(emphasis falling pattern3), ∩(emphasis falling pattern4). These patterns play important roles for organization of conversational discourse in terms of mutual influence and mutual contrast. Speakers use also intonation pattern's variability as their expressivity tool and intonation patterns disposition is interpreted as a efficient discourse strategy. As one of first expriments on intonation characteristics of Jeju dialect spoken by Jeju people in Osaka, this study can be a meaningful work. To reveal more specific aspects of Jeju Dialect intonation, many studies have to be realized after this study.
