Suicide Prevention Education Using Logotherapy

자살에 대한 사회적인 관심이 생기면서 자살예방교육이 많이 이루어지고 있다. 하지만 자살과 자살예방교육에 대한 내용을 분석해 본 결과, 자살에 대한 지식 전달만 하지 실질적으로 자살예방차원의 도움을 줄 수 있는 교육이 되고 있지 않다. 자살을 하는 사람들을 근본적인 요인을 분석해보면 내적 공허함과 삶의 가치, 목적, 의미가 결여된 느낌인 실존적 공허를 호소한다. 그렇기에 자살예방교육은 심리적 요인 중에 자살까지 이르게 하는 실존적 공허에 대하여 충분히 다루어주고 진정한 삶의 의미적 접근을 할 수 있는 로고테라피를 적용한다면 기존의 교육 내용을 보충할 수 있다. 로고테라피의 기본 개념인 고통, 책임, 의지의 자유 등을 살펴봄으로써 기존 교육의 부족한 부분을 보완하고 프로그램에서 삶의 의미를 발견할 수 있는 방법인 창조적·경험적·태도적 가치를 인식하고 삶에서 실현할 수 있도록 다룬다면 삶의 가치도 달라질 수 있다. 로고테라피 방법을 자살예방교육의 단기·장기교육에 적용하는 방식을 제시하고 연령별로 특징적으로 다루어야 할 것을 알아본다. 또한 청소년 부모 대상 자살예방교육 프로그램을 제시함으로써 활용방안까지 모색해본다.

Due to the high social interest in suicide, suicide prevention education is becoming more popular. However, as a result of analyzing the content of suicide and suicide prevention education, it is not an education that can actually help in terms of suicide prevention. It only conveys knowledge about suicide. Analyzing the underlying factors of people who committed suicide, they complain of an inner emptiness and an existential emptiness, a feeling of lack of value, purpose, and meaning in life. Therefore, suicide prevention education should include the contents dealing existential emptiness. In order to do that, logotherapy will be the key to the new suicide prevention education, since it includes the true meaning in life. By examining the basic concepts of logotherapy, such as pain, responsibility, and freedom of will, we can complement the lack of existing education. This will help to recognize the creative, experiential, and attitude values, which are ways to discover the meaning of life in the program, and realize them in life. We present the method of applying the logotherapy method to short-term and long-term education of suicide prevention education. Also we identified what needs to be dealt with in each age group. In addition, by presenting a suicide prevention education program for parents of teenagers, we are looking for ways to utilize it.
