본 논문은 2022년 권진규 작가(權鎭圭, 1922~1973년) 탄생 100주년으로 그의 구도자적 예술정신을 논술하였다. 또한 논자는, 권진규 작가의 수행자와 구도자적 예술정신은 일상과 이상의 4cp철학실천의 연장임을 알 수 있었다. 2009년 일본의 명문학교 무사시노미술대학에서는 개교 80주년을 기념하여 학교의 역사를 대표할 단 1명의 작가를 선정했다. 모든 예술 분야에서 가장 예술적으로 뛰어난 작가 1명이 1949~1953년까지 이 학교에 수학한 한국인 조각가 권진규 작가이다. 권진규 작가의 작품세계 중 두상과 흉상들은 명상과 구도자의 모습을 지닌다. 그 작품들의 모델은 일상사 흔한 작품 이름으로 평범한 얼굴들에서 구도자적 형상을 띄고 있다. 특히 2022년 권진규 작가의 100주년 기념 전시는 불교적 색채가 짙은 입산(入山, 1947~1958), 수행(修行, 1959~1968), 피안(彼岸, 1969~1973) 등의 3시기로 수행자와 구도자적 예술정신을 잘 보여준다. 이러한 그의 동양적인 사고는 때로는 불교적, 도교적, 때로는 실존주의적인 모습을 보여준다. 박수근, 이중섭과 더불어 현대 한국 미술의 3대 거장으로 불리는 조각가 권진규 작가의 치열한 작업은 수행자이자 구도자적 삶임을 알 수 있다.

It can be seen that the fierce work of sculptor Kwon Jin-gyu, who is considered one of the three great masters of contemporary Korean art along with Lee Jung-seop and Park Soo-geun, is a life of a practitioner and a seeker.
