본고는 忠淸北道 淸原郡에 속하는 邑面을 대상으로, 그 변천 내용과 때에 따른 이름 由來를 밝히고 있다. 이러한 작업은 좁게는 읍면 이름의 명명 유연성을 알게 해 주는 동시에, 넓게는 우리 조상을 포함한 당시 명명자들의 인지 태도나 문화에 대한 정보까지 알게 해 준다. 그리고 나아가 혹시 읍면 이름을 개정할 필요가 있을 때에는 바람직한 방향으로의 안내자 역할도 수행할 수 있을 것이다. 필자는 본고 작성을 위해 『輿地圖書』ㆍ『舊韓國地方行政區域名稱一覽』ㆍ『新舊對照 朝鮮全道府郡面里洞名稱一覽』등 지리지를 연대순으로 분석하였다.
This paper searches the namimg history of towns in Cheongwon-gun, Chungbuk province according to their changes of times. This work can not only make clear the flexibility of town-naming way but also give the information about the culture in those times and the cognitive attitude of name-givers of the time. Furthermore, it can conduct as a guide in a desirable way, in case of re-naming of towns. In oder to study the naming history, this paper analyzes various kinds of geography information books published in from the Joseon Dynasty period to an early Japan's colonial period in chronological order.
