TV Star Documentary My Way Disability Hall “Stereo Type for the Disabled” A Study on: Focusing on the Indomitable Venus Kim Na-yoon

본 연구는 TV조선에서 방영된 TV 스타다큐 마이웨이 ‘불굴의 비너스 김나윤’ 편에 나타난 스테레오 타입 이미지를 분석하기 위하여 비판 담론적 분석을 사용하여 연구하였다. 본 연구 결과 ‘장애 문제 개인화’는 주인공이 자신의 절단된 팔을 강조하며 장애를 부각하고 있다, 출연진 중 중도장애인인 강원래는 휠체어를 탄 자신의 모습을 바라보는 사람들에게 ‘불쌍하다고 쳐다보는 거야’와 같이 타인을 향해 적대적으로 대응했던 경험을 말한다. 이는 장애 문제에 있어 개인이 책임져야 하는 사회속의 장애 인식을 나타내고 있다. ‘장애 이상한 몸’은 장애의 특정 부위를 강조하며 ‘장애’를 부각하고 있다. 그리고 ‘장애극복’은 우리 사회에 비장애인 중심의 문화를 파악할 수 있었고, ‘희생의 대상화’는 장애인을 둘러싼 가족과 친구 등의 도움과 희생을 강조하고 있다. 이와 함께 ’사회적 분리’는 장애인 전용 센터를 설립해야겠다는 내용을 말하며, 이는 장애인과 비장애인 사이의 계층 간의 분리를 의미한다. 이와 더불어 주인공을 ‘슈퍼장애인(supercrip)’으로 묘사하고 있다. 본 연구는 “장애(인) 스테레오 타입”을 벗어나 장애를 논하거나 연출하는 것의 출발점에 있어 제작자의 사고방식과 감수성, 관점을 정립하고 장애에 대한 왜곡된 인식을 제거하며 사회적으로 장애인식을 재고하도록 하는 것에 의미를 둘 수 있다.

This study was studied using critical discourse analysis to analyze the stereotypical image shown in the TV Star Documentary <My Way - ‘Immortal Venus Kim Na-yoon’ episode> aired on TV Chosun. As a result of this study, “personalization of disability issues refers to the experience of the protagonist highlighting her disability by emphasizing her amputated arm. Kang Won-rae, another disabled member of the cast, responds hostilely to others, such as regarding others’ views as ‘pity’. This represents the perception of disability in society that individuals must face. ‘Disability Strange Body’ emphasizes specific areas of disability and highlights disability. In addition, ‘overcoming disability’ discusses the non-disabled-centered culture in our society, and ‘objectification of sacrifice’ emphasizes the necessary help and sacrifice of family and friends surrounding the disabled. Furthermore, ‘social separation’ refers to the need to establish a center dedicated to the disabled, which signifies the separation between the disabled and the non-disabled. In addition, the main character is being described as ‘supercrip’. This study can be meaningful in establishing the mindset, sensitivity, and perspective about disabilities and eliminating distorted perceptions of disability. Additionally, it aims to raise social awareness on disabilities.
