동일 원작 기반 한일 영상 매체의 장애인 재현 비교 연구

A Comparative Study on the Representation of the Disabled in Korean and Japanese Video Media Based on the Same Original Work: Focused on the Movie Marathon and the Drama Marathon

본고의 목적은 동일 원작 기반 한국 영화 <말아톤>과 일본 드라마 マラソン(마라톤)의 장애인 재현 비교 연구를 통해 영상 매체의 자폐성 장애인 재현을 문화 연구의 관점에서 비판적으로 고찰하고, 장애와 통합의 바람직한 과제를 장애학의 관점에서 제시하는 것이다. 이를 위해 한국의 <말아톤>과 일본의 マラソン(마라톤)의 소통을 통한 성장 서사, 장애와 통합에 대한 인식을 비교하였다. <말아톤>은 자립과 당사자성을 강조하고 사회의 소통과 변화를 모색하며 적극적인 여성상을 부각시켰다는 점에서 진보적인 관점을 보였지만 자폐성 장애인을 대하는 사회 일반의 편견과 갈등, 비장애인과 분리된 교육이나 직업훈련의 현실을 통해 완전 통합으로의 과제를 발견할 수 있었던 반면, マラソン(마라톤)은 자폐성 장애인과의 조화, 통합 직장이라는 한국보다 앞선 사회 기반을 재현하고 있지만 가족애와 극기심을 강조하면서 장애를 개인 노력으로 극복해야 한다는 개별 모델의 한계를 드러내고 있다.

The purpose of this paper is to critically examine the representation of people with autistic spectrum disability in video media from the perspective of cultural studies, and to present the desirable tasks of disability and inclusion in disability studies through a comparative study on the representation of people with autistic spectrum disability in the Korean movie Marathon and the Japanese drama Marathon based on the same original work. Therefore, the narrative of growth through communication and perception of disability and inclusion were compared between them. The one is progressive in that it emphasizes self-reliance and nothing about us without us, seeks communication and change in society, and highlights an active female image. But It shows the task of inclusion through the reality of the prejudice and conflicts of society towards people with the autistic disabled and education or vocational training that is separated from people without disabilities. The other reproduces a social foundation that is more advanced than Korea in terms of harmony with people with autistic spectrum disability and integrated workplaces, but emphasizes family love and self-denial, revealing the limitations of the individual model that disabilities must be overcome through individual efforts.
