사제는 청년들의 신앙생활에 어떻게 영향을 미치는가?

How Does a Priest Affect Young Adult Catholics’ Faith Journey?: Analysis on Priests’ Leadership in the Light of Synodalitas

본고는 사제 리더십이 어떻게 청년 평신도에게 영향을 미치는지를 분석하였는데, 특별히 청년 신자의 신앙 여정에 대한 구체적인 체험을 통해 이를 심층 분석하였다. 사제인 연구자는 청년 직무 봉사자 (단체장) 16명과 심층 인터뷰를 겸손되이 경청하며 진정성있게 진행하여 심층자료 분석을 수행하였다. 사제리더십에 관한 연구결과를 살펴보면, 사제의 시노달리타스와 친교 증진의 영적 리더십은 청년 평신도들을 삶과 신앙의 통합과 공동체로의 몰입으로 이끌었다. 이와는 달리, 권위주의적, 거래적 리더십과 하향식 의사소통은 이들을 조직 내 침묵 이후 냉담으로 이끌었다. 한편 청년 신자들이 조직 갈등의 심화와 신앙의 위기 속에서도 종교적 아비투스(미사 참례, 신앙생활 등)에 대한 성찰을 통해서 어려움 극복 기제인 ‘신앙생활 심화하기’, ‘새로운 사목적 동반 수용하기’, ‘교우 네트워크 도움받기’, ‘근본-체험 현재화하기’를 통해 신앙 여정을 발전시키는 사례들도 분석하였다. 본 연구는 사제 리더십을 대별하고 청년 평신도의 대응 양상과 어려움 극복 기제를 세분화하였으며, 청년 사목 쇄신 관점에서 시노달리타스에 의한 친교, 참여, 사명의 사목적 과제에 대한 구체적 전망을 제시하였다.

This study endeavored to analyze how a parish priest influence on Catholic young adult lay leaders’ faith journeys. A researcher conducted ‘in-depth interviews’ with 16 young leaders of parish groups as humbly listening. The empirical findings report, in the light of the Synodalitas, that communion-oriented pastoral leadership empowered young adults to integrate their faith and life. In contrast, authoritarian and transactional leadership with hierarchical communication drove young adults into silenced faith or out of the church. In crisis, young adults has reflexively built up different paths such as ‘deepening faith’, ‘accepting new pastoral companionship’, ‘getting help from faith networks’ and ‘anamnesis of fundamental experience.’ To sum up, this study categorized various pastoral implications of a priest leadership and young adult Catholics’ reflexive journey on faith. It tried to figure out the ecclesiastical significance of Synodalitas: communion, participation, and mission.
