Deep Incarnation and Ecological Apostolate as the Praxis

교회 초기에 신성과 인성의 위격적 결합에 관한 교리를 세운 아타나시우스의 그리스도론은 창조와 신화(deificatio)를 연결하여 피조물 전체를 포함하는 우주적 구원자로서 그리스도를 이해하였다. 요한복음 1,14에서 계시되는 ‘살(sarx)이 되신 말씀’이란 하느님이 피조물의 유한성 안으로 들어오신 것을 의미하며, 그것은 단지 인간 존재만을 넘어 그와 연결되어있는 우주의 모든 생명 및 구성요소와 결합하신 것을 포함한다. 육화에 관한 의미를 확장하여 이해함으로써 인간중심적 이해를 넘어 지구의 만물이 저마다의 고유한 가치를 갖고 하느님과 연결된 신성한 존재라는 생태적 관점을 갖는 것을 깊은 육화(deep Incarnation)라고 부를 수 있다. 닐스 헨릭 그레게르센, 엘리자베스 존슨 등에 의해 시도된 이러한 접근은 피조물의 영역을 포함한 깊은 사역, 깊은 십자가, 깊은 부활로 신학적 범위를 확장하고 있다. 생태 위기를 맞이하는 현대의 시대적 징표는 신학에서 그 대상을 확장할 뿐 아니라 진정성을 위한 프락시스를 요구하고 있으며, 오늘날 생태 사도직이라고 부르는 영역으로 표현되고 있다. 그것은 특히 현세성을 갖고 살아가는 평신도가 진정한 중심이 될 수밖에 없다. 깊은 육화는 우리의 일상을 자연과 분리된 것이 아닌, 그 자체를 자연으로 이해하도록 이끈다. 교세의 확장을 선교로 이해하던 시대는 끝났다. 삶의 현장에서 피조물을 돌보는 것에 각별한 관심을 두고 실천하는 것은, 하느님이 세계의 피조물과 분리될 수 없는 연결 관계로 육화하셨고 세계는 그 피조물의 신화를 향하고 있다는 믿음에 관한 실천인 것이다.

St. Athanasius established the doctrine of the hypostatic union for divinity and humanity in Christ and understood Christ as the cosmic savior for whole creation by connecting creation and deification. The doctrine of Incarnation, revealed by Gospel John 1,14, 'Word became flesh' presents God entered into creation. At the same time, we can interpret it as God being connected not only in human existence but also in all life and elements of the universe through its interconnectedness. We can call this kind of expanded understanding of Incarnation beyond the anthropocentric perspective 'deep Incarnation. It makes us keep an ecological perspective that all things on earth have their own unique values and are sacred beings connected to God. Some ecotheologian such as Niels Henrik Gregersen and Elizabeth Johnson expand the theological scope to include the realm of creation. The signs of time facing an ecological crisis ask not only to develop its subject in theology but also demands a praxis for authenticity. It is expressed in the area called ecological apostolate today. Lay people should be the center of this calling because they live the secular. Deep Incarnation leads us to understand our daily life as nature itself, not separated from nature. Paying particular attention to caring creatures through ordinary life is the practice of the faith that God has incarnated in the world and that world is advancing towards the deification of all creatures.
