걷기 운동 방법이 노인의 보행속도와 정적균형에 미치는 영향

Effect of gait training methods on the gait speed and static balance of the elderly.

  • 54

Introduction : The major change in becoming elderly is that gait speed slows down due to a decrease in walking ability such as cardiopulmonary endurance and muscle strength due to aging, which means damage to the body system. Background : Gait training can improve the pace of the elderly's gait, and based on this, we want to find a more efficient way to do gait training with a fixed distance or a fixed time. Method : Distance group and Time group will train for four weeks, and each group will measure their physical abilities at Week 0 and Week 2 and Week 4. Control Group will only perform physical measurements at Week 0, Week 2, and Week 4 without four weeks of gait training. Measurement : 6 min walking test, One leg standing, Timed Up & Go test, Calf muscle width, Thigh muscle width (5 cm above the knee & 10 cm above the knee). Result : The average gait speed of the distance group was improved, and the record of Timed Up & Go test of all groups except the Control group was improved. Conclusion : Since the Distance Group's average gait speed has been steadily increasing during four weeks of training, it is more efficient to train distance-setting than to train time-setting to increase the average gait speed of the elderly.
