Influence of Five-day Workweek on Worker’s Leisure: An Internet Survey

This study aims at exploring the influence of five-day workweek on worker’s leisure using Internet survey method. Even though Internet survey is an incipient method for the social research, it might be a powerful tool that could replace existing telephone survey method. Authors used web-based survey type and SQL 2000 server, blocking duplicate response by means of the cookie and IP address. In this analysis, although the five-day workweeks were found influencing on workers leisure time of Saturday and leisure satisfaction, just four leisure activities among nine factorial activities were suggested. The results imply that the influence of five-day workweek system on workers leisure is rather limited within this beginning steps, which suggests the effect needed to be monitored by further researches.
