Many researchers have suggested that casino gamblers should not be homogenous in terms of motivation, use patterns, betting patterns, etc. Nonetheless, few studies have investigated the characteristic differences among sub-groups of casino gamblers. This study was conducted to investigate some specific differences (i.e., the illusion of control, the level of problem gambling, and the sought-for benefits) of Kangwon Land Casino visitors based on their involvement profile. A self-administered on-site survey was conducted in the middle of July 2002. A total of 584 valid responses were obtained from the survey. Results of the study revealed that three distinctive clusters are significantly different in terms of points of interest. Both theoretical and practical implications were suggested.
