The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the images of Japanese and Chinese tourists and psychic distance. Canonical correlation was used to analyze the relationship between the two factors. The results revealed that the tourists from the two countries had similarities in terms of certain cultural aspects. Psychic distance and tourism images, however, varied in terms of cultural and economic variables. The Japanese tourists were more inclined toward cultural aspects, such as Korean tradition, while Chinese tourists focused more on economic aspects. One distinguishing attribute of affective images between the two countries is that “leasure” is perceived as more important by the Japanese, while “ecurity and novelty” are given more value by the Chinese.
