This study was an empirical research on the socio-economic characteristics and motivations of a group of Korean literary travelers. Data were collected from 127 participants of the 2003 Fall Literary Travel with Writers. Travelers surveyed in this study were primarily females in their 20s or 30s, and college graduates who were interested and knowledgeable about travel writers and their works. The results of this study also indicated that there were statistically significant relationships between the literary travelers’ motivations and their level of knowledge on writers and their works, and between the literary settings and the literary travelers’ motivations. Based on the results of this study, several points were made from the perspectives of literary tourism marketing.
