일반적으로 게임 내에서 제공하는 피드백 종류에는 다양하게 있으며, 게임 이용자들은 그러한 피드백을 통해서 게임의 재미를 느끼고 지속적으로 이용하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 게임 이용자들이 어떠한 피드백을 받았을 때, 게임 이용에 대한 동기가 증가하고 긍정적인 정서를 가질 수 있는지 그에 따라서 이용자에게 제공되어야 할 맞춤형 피드백은 무엇인지 알아보는 연구를 진행하였다. 이용자의 게임 이용 사전 경험에 따른 성취 수준과 피드백의 종류에 따라서 어떻게 동기와 긍정적 정서가 다르게 나타나는지 알아보기 위해 목표 추구 방식을 피드백으로 게임에 적용하였고, 실제 게임을 제작하여 성취 수준으로 집단을 나누어 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 전문가라 할 수 있는 고득점자 집단은 전체 점수를 제공하여 본인의 노력을 점검할 수 있게 해주는 ‘전념’ 피드백과 목표에 도달하고 있다는 것을 알 수 있게 해주는 ‘진전’ 피드백 모든 조건에서 비슷한 수준의 동기를 보였지만, 초보자라 할 수 있는 저득점자 집단에서는 전념 피드백에서 낮은 수준의 동기를 보였고, 진전 피드백에서 높은 수준의 동기를 보였다. 본 연구의 결과로 이용자의 유형에 따라 다른 피드백을 제시해야 한다는 것을 논의하였다.

In general, there are several types of feedback provided in the game, and game users feel the fun of the game and use it continuously through such feedback. In this study, in order to minimize the defection of game users, a study was conducted to find out what customized feedback should be provided to users. To find out how motivation and positive emotions was expressed according to the level of achievement of users and the type of feedback, the goal pursuit methods were applied to the game as feedback, and the actual game was produced and analyzed by dividing the group according to the level of achievement. As a result, high scorers—professionals—have 'committed' feedback that gives them an overall score so they can check their efforts, and 'progress' feedback that lets them know they're reaching their goals, with similar levels of motivation and emotion in all conditions. Although they showed a positive emotional level, the low scorers, who can be called novices, showed a low level of motivation in the commitment feedback and a high level of motivation in the progress feedback. As a result of this study, it was discussed that different types of feedback should be presented according to the types of users.
