The purpose of this study is to develop the Korean Islamophobia Scale(K-IS) and verify its validity. The scale adapted to the Korean context measured the Islamophobia of university students. A total of 41 preliminary questions were produced through two preliminary question preparation processes, and the final 17questions(four-factors) were constructed. A total of 342 students were used for analysis. Four major factors were constructed to measure Islamophobia such as (a) negative frame of Islam (negative frame) (b) emotional rejection and avoidance of Muslims(rejection-avoidance sentiment) (c) traditional Korean values/identity threat (value threats), and (d) psychological aspect (separation conflict). The items were based on 7-point Likert scale and showed a higher internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha = .960). This study also included demographic characteristics such as gender, religion, region, income, political orientation, overseas residence experience, overseas travel experience, Muslim acquaintance, and Middle East-related majors.
