Behavioral perspective which emphasizes behavioral changes made by certain human resource management practices has deepen insight to human behavior at organizations. But this study explores the emotional aspects of human behavior. Based on critical review of the previous studies on job characteristics, burn-out, and emotional labor this study hypothesizes that job characteristics decreases burn-out and emotional labor mediates the relationship. The results of the study, with 296 samples of casino dealers, show that the job characteristics decreased burn-out except autonomy of the job which is one of five factors of job characteristics. And emotional labor partially mediates the relationship between the two constructs. The results of this study implies that burn-out could be decreased according to the job characteristics. To be more specific the more variety, identity, importance, and feedback job has, the less burn-out occurs. And job characteristics could diminish burn-out through emotional labor.
