원형 스마트워치의 유저 인터페이스 분석을 통한 디자인 방향 연구

A study on the Design Direction through Analysis of User Interface for Circular Smart Watch

최근 전 세계적으로 스마트 워치의 시장이 급격하게커지고, 그에 따라 다양한 제품이 출시되며 원형 디스플레이의 스마트워치들이 개발되었다. 하지만 아직원형 스마트워치 디스플레이 유저 인터페이스 디자인에 대한 연구는 거의 이루어지지 않았고, 기존에 진행되었던 유저 인터페이스 연구들은 사각형 디스플레이 위주이다. 그 결과 현재 기존의 사각형 디스플레이에 쓰여지던 유저 인터페이스 디자인이 원형 스마트워치에 적용되어, 최적의 사용자 경험을 제공하지못하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 원형 유저 디스플레이 디자인 요소와 시중의 원형 스마트워치 유저인터페이스 디자인 사례를 분석하여 향후 원형 스마트워치 유저 인터페이스 디자인의 개선점 및 방향성을 제시한다. 연구 분석 결과, 사용자 경험을 만족시키기 위하여 원형 디스플레이에 적합한 한 눈에 알아볼 수 있는 디자인, 어플 레이아웃 디자인 그리고 내비게이션 디자인이 더욱 필요하다고 나타났다. 본연구는 앞으로 다양한 형태의 디스플레이 유저 인터페이스 디자인의 발전에 도움이 되는 참고자료로 사용될 것이다.

Resently, smart watch market is growing rapidly worldwide, accordingly the variety of smart watch products have been launched and smart watch of circular display is developed now. But study of user interface design for circular smart watch scarcely has been done yet and existing studies for user interface design are focused on rectangular display. As a result, the existing user interface design used for rectangular display is applied in a circular smart watch, it does not provide the optimal user experience. Therefore, this study analyzes circular display design elements and interface design practices of current released circular smart watch and suggests improvements and direction for the user interface design for the circular smart watch. It was concluded from the analysis results that glanceable design, layout design and navigation design for circular display is more necessary to satisfy the user experiences. This study will be used as a reference to development of various forms of display interface designs.
