독거노인을 위한 IoT 서비스 디자인 연구 - 노인의 UI 인지력 향상을 중심으로

A Study on IoT(Internet of Things) Service Design for Elder who Living Alone - Focused on the UI(User Interface) Perception Enhancement in Elderly

‘독거노인을 위한 IoT 서비스 디자인 연구 - 노인의UI 인지력 향상을 중심으로’라는 주제를 가진 본 논문은 정보화 시대 속 발달하고 있는 IoT(Internet of Things)이라는 새로운 서비스와 급격히 증가하는 노인 인구와의 만남, 즉 스마트 홈 서비스가 그들에게적용되었을 때 그들의 인지력으로 UI(User Interface) 디자인을 이해할 수 있는지에 관한 연구이다. ‘인지력이 떨어진 70~80대 혼자 사는 노인들은 대표적인IoT 서비스 기술인 스마트홈에서 살게 될 때 마주할UI를 쉽게 이해하지 못할 것이다.’라는 가설을 증명하기 위해 70~80대 독거노인 20명을 대상으로 설문조사, 1대1 심층 인터뷰, 사용성 테스트를 진행하였다. 그 결과, 조사자들은 현재 스마트폰을 사용해 본 적이 없고 핸드폰과 글씨의 크기가 작아 UI를 인지하기어려워하며 아이콘 자체에 익숙하지 않은 세대라서기능을 인지하지 못하는 것을 확인했다. 따라서 가설이 옮음을 확인했고 그들은 현재 나와 있는 UI 디자인을 완전히 인지하기에 한계가 있는 것을 확인했다.

This study has shown that when the elder who living alone, especially elderly people of senior phenomenon that progressed rapidly who live alone, are applied to Smart-Home service of IoT service, which is progressing now, whether they can understand UI(User Interface)design using their own perception. In order to identify the hypothesis that the elderly people living alone in seventies to eighties, whose perception falls, can be hard to understand easily that if they are faced to UI design when they live in the Smart-Home which is the representative technology of IoT, twenty participant, the elderly people living alone in seventies to eighties, were asked to do a survey, face to face interview and usability test. The results of this study indicate that the participants has never used smart mobile phone till now. Even if when they use application of Smart-Home, not only that they had difficulty recognizing the mobile phone and small size of letters but also that they couldn’t recognize the function of icon clearly because they are the generation who are not familiar with it. It can therefore be assumed that the hypothesis which is set before the research is proved, and also the elderly people can’t comprehend existing UI design completely.
