In this papers, a viewpoint is made by analyzing Zhuang Zhou beats the basin and obtains enlightenment that the book compiler Feng Menglong holds a severe concept of chastity, which is essentially the same as the traditional Confucian ethics has advocated. After a brief introduction on Zhuang’s overturn of the classics, chapter 2 starts with the book itself, followed by detailed analyzing the aspects of foreword and ending, additional plots and characterization, Feng’s intention to overturn the classics by expressing a strict and severe chastity viewpoint has been finally discovered. In chapter 3, with the help of data statistics on San Yan, Qing Shi and other related works, Feng’s chastity viewpoint is clearer and a few important features are summed up. Finally, the theoretical origin of Feng’s chastity viewpoint is explored in the ‘affection education’ thought which Feng’s been trumpeted. Based on the interpretation of ‘affection education’, Feng’s concept of affection revealed its unique connotation and range, the ‘affection’ he endued to married women is actually a variant of the traditional ‘chastity’, rather than the modern significance of ‘love’. Feng and traditional Confucian ethics’ chastity viewpoints are only different externally, but the purposes and the achievements are all the same in the end.
