Usually speaking, university education consists of general education and professional education. The general education in our country has been controversial due to its existing problems while the counterpart education in the United States is widely acclaimed over theworld. In addition, many universities in China followed the example of Harvard University in their course designing. Based on comparative research, this paper intends to draw a contrast between China and the United States in their respective education Idea, course designing and education methodology, and make a meticulous analysis of the predominant problems existing in China’s general education. The writer also suggests several solutions to the problems at the end of the paper.
