Luyou was a poet of the Song Dynasty in China, who wrote the highest number of poems ever recorded in China, 9,200. He is considered a patriotic poet as he wrote a lot of poems praising his country. Poets of the Song Dynasty were given a lot of themes needed to create tea poems thanks to the prosperous tea culture during the era, this encouraged him to write prolifically and 360 of his tea poems still exist today. I am studying the tea customs of the Song era shown in Luyou’s tea poems because, although many tea poems remain, so far there have been few studies in Korea.
