老子의 글쓰기 전략에 대한 몇 가지 검토

Through this review, it is confirmed that the fundamental writing strategy of Lao Tzu starts from basic recognition about the relationship between human’s thinking and language. His outstanding writing skills are shown in that Lao Tzu denied language itself in terms of his critical thinking as to human’s attempts to image and promote inherent nature. From the perspective of Lao Tzu, although the ‘Dao’ is the real value of human pursuit, it is hard to express this entirely by human language. To sum up, as Lao Tzu’s premise was the existence of conscience or recognition before its expression of language, we should understand his insight to language not as black and white but as the paradox that there is no way to explain Dao without language. As reviewed in this paper, we can assume that Thus, it is impossible to show all perspectives of Dao in that Dao is complete, eternal, comprehensive, and natural because it doesn’t have any light, sound, and face. Lao Tzu has twofold stance in that he leaves his own text with recognizing the contradiction that the thinking expressed by language is not inherent thinking. Lao Tzu is the excellent magician of language who efforts to put Dao into the fixed frame called language, while denying preserving human’s thinking in the frame of language. As shown in this paper, we should know that the use of infinitives in the linguistic expression and conceptual rule of ‘Dao’ shows the aspects of paradoxical writing pursuing revealing the characteristics of ‘Dao’. Namely, as though ‘Dao’ is the absolute being disapproving any conceptual rule which cannot be named something, for those who don’t understand ‘Dao’ the tool ‘language’ is needed and by linguistic technique like infinitive, figure of speech, and metaphor he wanted to improve persuasive power of his text.
