Age-related hearing loss (ARHL) or presbycusis is bilateral progressive sensorineural hearing due to the aging process. ARHL negatively affects interpersonal relationships, cognitive function, psychosocial problems and quality of life. In an aging society, ARHL is rapidly emerging as a public health problem. To improve the welfare and quality of life of the elderly, early diagnosis, prevention and rehabilitation should be carried out. In this review, the characteristics, classification, prevention and treatment of ARHL were investigated.
