본 연구는 우리가 일상에서 소통의 도구로 사용하는 언어의 한계점을 인식하고 그것을 극복하며 소통의 가능성을 확장할 수 있는 방향을 모색해 보고자 시작되었다. 이를 위하여 구조주의 언어 이론들에 입각하여 언어의 가능성과 한계를 분석하고, 후기 구조주의 언어 이론에서 Jacques Lacan의 ‘미끄러짐’개념과 Jacques Derrida의 바벨탑 논의 등을 짚어본 뒤, 이를 시인 이상과 Paul van Ostaijen의 문학 작품들을 인공지능(AI)을 매개로 다양한 기표(이미지, 사운드, 텍스트)로 확장하여 가져온 미디어아트 전시 ⟪잘 알아듣지 못했어요, 다시 한번 말씀해 주세요⟫와 접목시켜 해석해 봄으로써, 언어의 의미를 조각내거나 해체하고 기표 사이를 유영하게 하고 그 차이 안에서 의미의 본질에 가까워질 수 있다는 가능성을 찾아보았다. 본 연구를 기반으로 문학, 예술, 미디어, AI의 융합을 통해 다문화 및 언어 기표의 한계를 넘어 그 안에서 생성되는 의미를 추적하며 확장된 소통을 시도할 수 있으리라 기대한다.
This study aims to recognise the limitations of language which is communication as apparatus and explore creative ways to overcome those limitations by implementing Artificial Intelligence to expand the possibilities of communication. Based on post-structuralist linguistics such as the concept of “slipperiness” by Jacques Lacan and the essay Tower of Babel written by Jacques Derrida, examined the potential and limitations of language. On the basis of these theories, analysed the media art exhibition, “Sorry, Please say that again,” grafted poetries written by Lee Sang and Paul van Ostaijen onto a extended by various signifiers (images, sounds, texts) mediated by AI. The result emphasised the essence of the actual meaning of language signifiers. Furthermore, attempt to overcome the limitation of communication and track the meanings created through the fusion of literature, art, media, and AI.
