The Mannheim Kapelle was mentioned in the music-history through the sponsorship of Carl Philipp and Carl Theodor in the 18th century. The Mannheim Kapelle with the musical patronage of Carl Theodor became much larger in the quality and size under his reign. He supported to the musicians financially and spiritually. He cultivated the more talented offspring of musicians at court, often by financing an extended period of study in Italy; such was the case, for exemple, for the violinist Christian Cannabich, Abbe Vogler and Ignaz Holzbauer. There were many famous Mannheim musicians, most of whom proved their outstanding technique at the Concert Spirituel in Paris. Besides, there were special music-educational systems such as Scholar and Accesist. The tradition of Mannheim was succeeded by them. Christian Cannabich and Ignaz Freanzl are taken as good examples for them. After the Elector of Bavaria died on 30 December 1777, the inheritance fell to Carl Theodor, who had to move his court from Mannheim to Munich. The Hofkapelle left for Munich in 1777-78, too. Then, Mannheim Kapelle declined slowly without the patronage of Carl Theodor. Absolute support of the court by Carl Theodor gave Mannheim musicians high salary and stable musical condition. But its uniform musical form caused that Mannheim School was forgotten.
