The third(1962-1970) and the fourth(1972-1980) phases of the 'Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik Darmstadt' underwent many changes compared to the early stages of the event. Between 1962 and 1980, a large number of avantgarde composers have attended and given lectures there, including Ligeti, Stockhausen along with musicologists such as Adorno and Dahlhaus. There were seminars by professional performers offered in-depth interpretations of new works as well as those dealing with specific subjects that interested most of contemporary musicians, workshops that introduced new music trends of non-mainstream countries, and new music performances. All of these lead to a common interest among musicians who insisted the diversity and various musical languages of the 20th-century music. One of the subjects that emerged as a matter of interest for all was electronic music and its connection to computer music.
