TMSIB meta-maker education model for the era of AI·digital darwinism: Focused on ChatGPT, Generative AI, and augmented capability

The current technological zeitgeist, ChatGPT, has evolved at a searing pace in an AI·digital darwinism era. More than ever, educators nowadays are forced to retrain and harness the capacity to leverage cutting-edge technologies to thrive in the face of an unprecedented wave of change. Against this backdrop, fueled by the tenets of Web 3.0 and human-centered AI, this study developed a new maker-education paradigm, dubbed TMSIB meta-maker model. The TMSIB meta-maker educational model was carried out in a hybrid form, featuring both in-person and virtual (Zoom) sessions with sixteen graduate students from diverse backgrounds. After taking virtual, augmented, metaversal tours of human body systems, the participants collaborated to generate ideas (Tinkering), created and constructed prototypes (Making), displayed their digital creations in the Metaverse exhibition (Sharing) and iterated on their inventions (Improving). Through Blockchain technology, touted as a game changer in Web 3.0, the participant creations were encrypted in the NFT marketplace OpenSea (Blockchaining). Following meta-reflection upon the processes, this study suggest ways of augmenting human capability of the educational initiatives via ChatGPT and other generative AI tools.
