This study discusses the necessity of academic word lists and their teaching program for Korean learners with academic purposes. This study mainly focuses on technical vocabulary in which Korean learners feel most difficult to understand in their academic fields. This study describes the definitions of academic vocabularies and classifies them into academic vocabulary, semi-technical vocabulary and technical vocabulary. This study also constructs the vocabulary lists according to major academic fields and determines the high-frequency vocabulary list among them. In addition, this study suggests the efficient teaching programs of technical vocabulary.
