The findings of the study with a focus on cultural themes can be summarized as follows: 1. In terms of Korean language education programs and their overall curriculum, diverse recruitment methods and ranks of the programs have been identified as major themes. An ideologically double-layered academic structure was also found in the process of implementing the curriculum, which seems to be connected to China’s structural characteristics of its being a socialist country in politics and being a capitalist in economics. 2. An investigation into the faculty composition of the department reveals “psychologically dual citizens” and “happens-to-be native speakers of Korean.” “Psychologically dual citizens” represent an emotional status of ethnically Korean professors with Chinese citizenship. “Happens-to-be native speakers of Korean” are those who have chosen to teach abroad. Accordingly, the language used inside the department is a mixture of three languages: Korean, Chosun Language used in North Korea, and Yonbyon dialects- Korean language used in Yonbyon, China-.
