The purpose of this article is to introduce unknown Korean textbooks to the researchers of Korean education. We have read “IL-HAN-TONG-HWA”, “HAN-EO-GYO-JEONG” and “SHINAN- HAN-EO-GAN” published between late 19th and early 20th century to teach foreigners Korean Language. These books are Korean language textbooks for Japanese students were written by Japanese and Korean authors in early modern period. We investigated authors, publication time and peculiarity of those books. The structure of textbooks, contents, and teaching method were analyzed. The results of our research can be summarized as follows : (1) The Korean language textbooks were composed in following sequence “An introduction of character → presentation of words group → making simple sentence → dialogs”. So these books are presentation a sentence pattern using selected words for a natural locutionary, and induction a variety sentence by expended words for fluency. Especially Japanese authors took notice of difference of a Chinese character between of two languages. (2) The contents of Korean language textbooks were useful expressions emphasizing on the differences between other cultures.
