This paper aims to describe and analyze the errors produced by foreign learners of Korean language with its focus on several major Korean phonological rules such as tensification, reduction of consonant cluster in coda, resyllabification and so on. The foreign learners as the subjects of the analysis are composed of 54 English native speakers, 36 Chinese and 35 Japanese native speakers and their task was to read 300 Korean words. The analysis shows that there exists a consistent correlation between the frequency of errors and fluency level of learners and that the degree of difficulty varies with the type of phonological rules. The results suggest that the errors of foreign learners are in some way related to the phonological systems of their native languages.
