The purpose of this study is to find useful principles for teaching and learning Korean Terms of Address. To improve communicative competence, it is very important to pick and use Terms of Address appropriately. There are many Korean learners who use Terms of Address unsuitable, which has not been considered important. After reviewing some previous theories and studies on Korean Terms of Address, this study summarized the definition, patterns, functions of Korean Terms of Address. Address terms are classified into 5 categories in this study. Some rules are suggested, which help Korean learners choose a appropriate Terms of Address with situations. Based on the rules suggested in this study, the differences of Terms of Address depending on relationships between speakers and listeners are summarized. The detailed and concentrate study on teaching Korean Terms of Address should be done in the near future.
