Principles and Practice of Test of Ability of Korean Reading and Listening

Studies on the test of capability to apprehend Korean have been researched based on the necessity in the classroom. It is believed that results of research such as test pattern, question pattern and examples have improved the classroom teaching. However, according to this analysis, it still has a room to improve further due to either change of proficiency or any other factors. This study examined parts to be improved in KPT(or TOPIK) by Korea Institute of Curriculum and Evaluation, which is known as the best managed official test. In addition, it is necessary to analyze the texts used in the test as well as question patterns to develop the questions to evaluate the proficiency to apprehend the language. Thus, this research analyzes both text and question patterns. Furthermore, it provides the in depth guideline for instruction of questions, choices, and text to make questions.
