한국어 읽기․쓰기 교재 개발 방안 연구

A Study on Ways to Develop Textbooks for Reading and Writing in Korean: focusing on types of syllabuses and organizations of tasks

The purpose of this study is to present ways to develop textbooks effective for building up reading and writing ability in Korean. For this purpose, above all, an analysis was made of the types of syllabuses, contents, and activities of the preceding textbooks for reading and writing in Korean. Following this review of the types of the syllabuses, topic-based syllabus was suggested for the beginning level and mixed syllabus for the intermediate or higher level, as a syllabus appropriate for the purpose of developing textbooks for reading and writing in Korean. The mixed syllabus means a syllabus in which genre is placed as the highest criterion and function or theme is placed under according to each genre. In addition, as a way of organizing tasks for reading and writing, some important suggestions were given; first of all, tasks should be developed on the basis of authentic tasks for real communication and secondly, tasks should be developed for various strategies fit for such communication to be used. Also, it was pointed out that activities for language learning should be included in those tasks and detailed actual examples were listed. Besides, since it is impossible to comprehend and produce Korean text without the knowledge of writing habits of Korean people, it was emphasized that teaching different structures of writing or forms of expression by genres should be handled as important in the textbooks for reading and writing in Korean.
