The Rise and Prospects of Korean Studies in China

This paper was prepared and presented at “The 8th Korean Studies Seminar in China”, marking the 12th anniversary of Yeonbyeon Science and Technology University. The development of Department of Korean Studies in Chinas has been examined and the future course of it is taken as the main content of this study, since the establishment of Korea-China relations. This study has three parts. In the first part, th idea of the Korean Studies has been illustrated and light is shed on the overall findings of drawbacks and the future direction, based on the summary of results obtained for the last ten years. In the second part, the suddenrise of Korean language studies, in the Department of Korean Studies has been discussed. After the establishment of Department of Korean Language Studies in numerous universities that has reached its crest, the explanation of the future is done by expecting the bright path that lies ahead along with the ideal way to follow to get the required results. In the third part, the study of Korean as a Foreign Language in China by means of intrinsic nature of Korean Language has been discussed along with the existing tendency of uneven relations between the two parties.
