The purpose of this paper is to speculate about the efficiency of the teaching method of Korean glottalization to Vietnamese students. When Korean glottalization is taught to Vietnamese students, the serious problems are that Korean glottalization is generated differently depending on the phonological context, and Korean glottalization rules have many exceptions. Secondly, because Vietnamese does not have ‘ㄹ’ in coda(Âm Cu i), they are not familiar with the glottalization that is generated by words ending in ‘ㄹ’. To accomplish our purpose, I examined the types of error related to Korean glottalization, and analysed them. According to the results, I will propose an efficient teaching method of Korean glottalization. Firstly, I will show in diagram form the Korean glottalization rules and some typical examples. In the course of these explanations, I will emphasize the morphological features related to Korean glottalization. And I will contrast Korean consonants with Vietnamese consonants.
