This paper examines usage of conjunctive endings by Korean language learners exhibited in their composition. A list of conjunctive endings and their semantic functions are suggested after examining the scholarly literatures on conjunctive endings thus far. The frequency of conjunctive endings used by Korean language learners is analyzed. It is compared with the frequency of conjunctive endings used by native Korean speakers in composition. The trend exhibited in Korean learners' usage of conjunctive endings is also suggested: they avoid using conjunctive endings and instead use several simple sentences. They prefer multi-functional conjunctive endings to those with a single semantic function. To avoid confusion, they clarify the semantic function using extra expressions such as connective adverbs. They also try to maximize what they learn in class and would commit errors as a result.
