The objective of this study is to find out the methods of teaching Korean culture with the use of Korean literature. This discussion has been developed along the understanding of current age that the interest in the area, rising with the present globalization, has resulted in the booming of Korean language education. Thus, this discussion is based on the assumptions that the existing discussions, which have focused on the education of literature, should be overcome and the comprehensive viewpoints, which pay attention to the relevant regions in area studies, need to be positively accommodated in the education of Korean culture. The methods of teaching Korean culture with the application of literature, one of the excellent materials in the education of Korean culture, have been presented as follows. Above all, the implications of culture in the education of Korean culture have been established and approached according to the basic categories of the understanding of geographical environment, the understanding of history, the understanding of living style, and the understanding of value awareness. These were applied to the literary work of the ‘vagabond’ a poem by Park, Mok-wol, and the possibility of the use of literature for the cultural education was materialized for the study of the possibility of the literary text as the cultural text.
