This study examines Korean idioms that convey nonverbal messages categorized according to the following criteria of whether a) they convey nonverbal messages; b) they represent reflexive gestures; c) such nonverbal language is used in every day Korean; and d) the nonverbal actions are present only in Korean culture. A list of educational methods needed to better teach such idioms are proposed based on results of the study as such: a) need to use videos; b) need for explanation of nonverbal messages; c) need to use idioms in a more realistic setting, such as through role plays; d) need to compare with one's native culture; and e) need for further discussions within group or pair work.
