This paper is concerned with how the [Reason] connectives and connective phrases can be taught in Korean language education. Instead of treating ungrammatical sentences as ‘errors’ but taking them as ‘interlanguage’ arising from the grammaticalization process of the learner while learning the target language. The teaching methods of [Reason] connectives discussed in this paper can be summarized as follows. First, after analysing the frequency in colloquial usage of connectives, they are presented in the descending order of frequency. Since in spoken language they are in the order of -ese > -unikka > -uni > -killay / -nulako, it is desirable to suggest connectives in this order. Second, connectives used in spoken language and in written should be taught separately. Third, the connectives with the least possible restrictions in usage and those that carry primary meaning without having other minor meanings should be presented first, followed by those with increasing restrictions. Fourth, the connective phrases with a variety of meanings should also be presented in the order the level.
