This study aims to analyze the writing self-efficacy of foreign undergraduate students in a Korean writing course for academic purposes. Pre-tests and post-tests of writing self-efficacy of 56 students in the intermediate class & 74 students in the advanced class were conducted at the beginning and end of the course, and then the paired sample T-test was conducted to verify significant differences. As a result, the writing self-efficacy of both the intermediate and advanced classes increased after the course. The writing self-efficacy of the post-test is a normal level, neither high nor low but it has increased compared to the pre-test. There were also differences between the pre- and post-tests in all writing stages. The means of the items in the “after writing” stage showed a relatively low increase. It was confirmed that the academic writing course centered on genre knowledge & academic writing skills and the practice according to the writing procedure had a positive effect on the improvement of writing self-efficacy. It also shows that learners’ emotional development-the beliefs and expectation of academic writing has been achieved to some extent through the course.
