The study analyzes trends in Korean speaking education from 1987 to 2020. A total of 742 studies were analyzed by text data, extracting topics and key words with high potential associations over time with Topic Modeling techniques. According to the analysis, studies of speaking Korean has improved both in quantity and quality since 2011. While previous studies focused on enabling the actual use of speaking knowledge acquired in everyday life, this changed over time to academic purpose-oriented or discussion-oriented research in a particular language region. In particular, speech evaluation studies have been continuing since the beginning to the present, and the trend has been changing from development studies to scoring comparison studies. As a future task, variable studies should be conducted on the review and evaluation environment to strengthen the validity and reliability of speaking questions. It is also necessary to study speaking for multilingual learners with diverse purposes in academic speaking research. Moreover, research on speaking has a strong identity between each topic and key words and therefore, it is necessary to strengthen convergence and linkage with other topics.
