연구목적: 이 연구는 최근 발달장애인을 위한 고등교육이 확대됨에 따라, 현재 대학에 진학하여 대학 생활을 영위하고 있는 경도 발달장애대학생의 대학 진학 및 대학 생활에 대한 경험과그 의미를 이해하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구방법: 발달장애인을 위한 고등교육을 제공하는 대학에 재학 중인 경도 발달장애대학생 3인과 어머니 3인을 참여자로 하여 면담을 실시하였다. 연구결과: 연구 결과, 경도 발달장애대학생의 및 부모의 대학 진학 경험과 의미는 ‘대학으로 진학하게 된 계기’, ‘대학 생활 경험’, ‘대학 졸업 후에 대한 생각’ 3가지 상위 범주와 9개의 하위범주가 도출되었다. 결론: 첫째, 경도 발달장애대학생의 대학 진학 계기를 파악할 수 있었다. 둘째, 대학 생활에서 겪게 되는 어려움과 성장을 확인할 수 있었다. 셋째, 대학 졸업 후 진로ㆍ직업에 대한 여러 가지 지원과 환경 조성의 필요성에 대해 파악할 수 있었다.
