새 자료 金景善의 연행기록 『燕轅直指』초고본의 특징과 가치

The characteristics and value of a newly discovered first book of Yeon Hang 『YeonWonGikGee』written by Kim Kyung Seon

『燕轅直指』는 金景善이 1832(순조 32) 6월 20일에 준비를 시작하고 10월 한성을 출발하여 1833년에 4월 2일에 돌아오기까지의 사행기록이다. 그동안 학계에 장서각과 규장각 소장 『燕轅直指』 6권 6책의 通行本으로 활용하였다. 이번 새로 발굴된 『燕轅直指』의 초고본은 김경선이 『 『燕轅直指』 定本을 완성하기 전에 작업한 여러 종류의 초고본 텍스트로 보인다. 초고본 7책의 분량도 방대하고 필사체도 번잡해 판독하기 어려워 본 연구는 일단 초고본의 내용 개황, 특징과 가치를 중심으로 고찰하였다. 7책의 내용을 살펴보면 김경선이 박지원의 『열하일기』와 홍대용의 『연기』등 관련 내용을 뽑아 편집한 가이드북 성격의 2책, 연행 당시 간략히 메모한 일기 1책, 수정하고 보완한 연행 일기 4책이 있다. 초고본의 가장 큰 특징은 참고자료용 초고본, 1차 초고본, 2차 초고본을 나누어 볼 수 있다는 것이다. 또 2차 초고본과 1차 초고본의 상호 보완 관계가 있다는 사실, 2차 초고본의 수정과 편집 사항이 통행본에 어떻게 나타나는지도 잘 보여주었다는 것이다. 초고본과 통행본은 서로 대조적이면서 동시에 상호보완적이라고 할 수 있다. 이와 같은 초고본은 김경선의 친필 초고본으로 추정되어 역사 문헌적인 가치가 아주 귀중하고, 초고본의 출현은 김경선의 연행 전반 상황을 파악할 수 있는 계기가 되었다. 향후 초고본은 토대자료로 활용되면 김경선의 연행 관련 연구를 탐색하는 데 있어 많은 시사점을 제시해 줄 수 있으리라 판단한다.

The 『Yeonwongikgee(燕轅直指)』 book, which is a travel record about the foreign missionary official visitor, Kim Kyung Seon(金景善) prepared journey to Beijing, China on June 20, 1832 (King Sun Joe, 32 years) and start to travel China during October, 1832 until April 2, 1833. Until today, Korean academia have used six volumes and six books, which are owned by Jangsegak and Gyujanggak. The recently discovered first copy of『Yeonwongikgee(燕轅直指)』 seems to be various types of first copy texts written by Kim Kyung Seon, was published before he completed final copy of 『Yeonwongikgee(燕轅直指)』 book. This paper examines general background information, characteristics and value of first copy of the Book as the quantity of seven books of first copy is massive and it is difficult to understand and interpret the hand-written copies. If we see the contents of these seven books, there are Kyung Seon’s edited two books, which his selected contents regarding 『Yealhailgee(熱河日記)』book written by Park Jee Won, and 『Yeongee(燕記)』 book written by Hong Dae Rong. And there is one book on diary memos of the period of Yeon Hang(燕行)’s visiting time and there are four books revised and supplemented Yeon Hang diary. The biggest feature of the first copy of the book is that it can be divided by the original copy, the first and the second copies for reference. It also shows the fact that the first copy and second copy have a complementary relationship and how the revisions and editing of the second copy appear in the popular copy. The original copy of the book is presumed to be the first copy written by Kim Kyung Seon, so its literature’s value is very valuable in terms of historical aspect. The first copy and popular copy are both contrasting and complementary. The discovery of these copies also serves as offering an opportunity to understand Kim Kyung Seon's overall situations of Yeon Hang. If these copies of the books are used as basic data in the future, it is believed that it will be able to offer good implications for conducting the research related to a study on Kim Kyung Seon’s literature regarding with Yeon Hang(燕行) records.
